JGSDF Type 16 MCV Rapid Deployment Regiment
The Type 16 entered service in 2018 and is armed with a 105mm L/52 gun with a secondary 12.7mm Browning machine gun and Type 96 40mm automatic grenade launchers. It was designed to replace some of Japan's main battle tanks and could be airlifted to Japan's islands when needed. The Type 16 has a crew of 4. As of 2024, 114 Type 16 MCV have been produced and are in service with JGSDF.
